The result exceeded the pre-event expectations by 2.5 million dollars. A total of 35 Peruvian publishers went to the event and took advantage of this huge opportunity.
Peru continues to stand out at all levels! This time it relates to the Peruvian publishing sector that achieved good news for our country. The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) confirmed that 35 Peruvian publishers achieved commercial opportunities for $ 7.5 million in the business roundtable carried out in the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara 2021 (Guadalajara International Book Fair 2021) held from November 27 to December 5.
The excellent news exceeded all expectations, as it exceeded by more than $ 2.5 million the projections estimated weeks ago before participating in the leading Spanish-speaking editorial event, which is also considered as the second most important one in the field worldwide.
In total, more than 250 business meetings were held with various Latin American professionals in the industry. The business opportunities will undoubtedly mean a huge boost for the Peruvian publishing industry throughout the country, since the 35 companies that went to the event were from the regions of Arequipa, Cusco, Huánuco, La Libertad, Lima, Loreto, Moquegua, and Puno.
This event was especially important for our country as Peru was presented to the participating nations as the fair's guest of honor and whose promotional wing was installed with the slogan "Peru, stories that connect." In this way, the entire Hispanic world was able to learn more about Peruvian culture, our stories, and the business opportunities of the national publishing sector.
THE PERUVIAN GASTRONOMY CULTURE ALSO STOOD OUT
This important fair was not only the perfect scenario for our publishing industry; but it also allowed us to show our already famous gastronomy. Among the promotional activities led by PROMPERÚ at the grand Mexican fair, the gastronomic festival spotlighted at the Hilton Hotel in Guadalajara. There, more than 1,100 visitors enjoyed an extensive menu of Peruvian dishes. The number of diners was the double than we expected.
In this way, the cebiche, causa limeña, arroz con pollo and other dishes -based on SUPER FOODS PERÚ- conquered the demanding Latin American palates, especially the Mexicans who were given the opportunity to taste the most divine flavors of our national cuisine.
It is important to note that Peru had the honor of serving our most select gastronomic repertoire in the Inaugural Lunch that is the most important social and protocol event of FIL Guadalajara 2021.
