Mango is a tropical fruit with a distinctive oval shape and vibrant skin that ranges from yellow and orange to shades of red and green, depending on the variety and ripeness. When you cut into a mango, you will find soft, juicy, and silky-smooth flesh surrounding a large, flat seed in the center.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), the regions in Peru with the highest mango production are Piura, Lambayeque, Lima, Ancash, Cajamarca, and La Libertad. Peru is also the world's fourth-largest exporter of various mango varieties, including Kent (fresh), Edward (frozen), Haden, and Tommy Atkins.
According to the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), in 2023, Peru exported approximately USD 255 million worth of fresh mangoes to countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
