How much do you know about Peruvian coffee?

Its Origin

One of the most important factors for the production of good coffee is the value chain. In this sense, Peru's multiculturalism has allowed it to respect diverse customs and methods whose origins lie in a unique coffee-growing tradition that protects the traceability and sustainability of this flow.

Its Diversity

The Peruvian Andes are an excellent setting to cultivate high altitude coffee: Peruvian coffee grows at altitudes of between 1,970 and 5,905 feet above sea level, although 75% of the coffee plantations are located higher than 3,280 feet above sea level. As for specialty coffees, they are usually grown at altitudes higher than 4,265 feet above sea level. Moreover, the numerous microclimates that can be found in Peru make it one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.

Its Specialty

In general, specialty coffees are of the Arabica variety, due to its sensory characteristics, such as taste, body and aroma.
